Maptuit Unveils Maptuit NaviGo™ The First and Only Hybrid and Multi-Mode Truck Navigation System
The Communication Solution for the 21st Century
BURLINGTON, MASS. October 17, 2006 — Maptuit Corp. announced today the commercial availability of “Maptuit NaviGo™ ,” the industry’s most anticipated client agnostic in-cab navigation service available to date. Maptuit NaviGo’s content will provide the professional truck driver and trucking companies with high-end, interactive maps, and audible turn-by-turn truck specific directions; a luxury that to date only existed in consumer vehicles, and will run on several WinCE and Winmobile 5 Platforms and devices utilizing Wi-Fi, Cellular or Satellite modes of communication.
“Maptuit NaviGo™ revolutionizes the way truck drivers will operate their trucks, giving them more control of their vehicles, as they receive the nation’s most accurate truck-specific routing through the industry’s most dynamic, real-time and most up-to-date road network.” Said Jeff Papows, CEO of Maptuit, “Maptuit NaviGo™ provides trucking companies with functionality that will directly affect their bottom line and can lower their communications costs by using the least expensive communication option available, whenever possible.”
Maptuit NaviGo™ provides truck drivers with a safer and better driving experience by taking Maptuit’s technology and its community of 80,000 drivers, who continually send updates to our road network, and combining it with state-of-the-art communication devices in order to provide on-board electronic maps to gauge the vehicle's location, and plot a course to a selected destination that provides drivers with audible truck specific, real-time, turn-by-turn directions.
“The release of Maptuit NaviGo™ is the product breakthrough that our customers have been expecting for a very long time,” continues Papows. “Today, we’re announcing commercial availability of a great new service that provides customers in this industry with a solution that will help them manage their fleets better, and one that gives their drivers safer ways to get to the door of their final destination. Maptuit is now positioned to provide a hybrid (on-board and real-time) service for the vast majority of existing platforms. This is great news for businesses eager to provide their hard-to-retain employees with the best productivity tools possible for navigation, routing, information and management available. Today, Maptuit closes the existing 20-year gap in trucking communication technology.”
Maptuit NaviGo™ will help address common goals among Maptuit’s current and future customers. The first of its kind available in the market today, Maptuit NaviGo is the answer to the ever-demanding customer and for every professional driver. Maptuit will continue to build on existing Maptuit NaviGo’s capabilities, and upcoming releases will expand the system with new solutions to obtain real-traffic and up-to-the minute weather information.
“Improving today’s overall technology to better support driver satisfaction and retention and helping drivers get safely to their destination has always been Maptuit’s primary goal,” adds Rick Turek, Chief Technology Office for Maptuit. “We know that getting to the final destination isn’t always intuitive, and communication modes that only provide text messages via in-cab communication devices decrease safety frustrate drivers and fail to take advantage of a decade of technology advances that are more than bells and whistles, but substantial improvements to productivity and operational ROI’s. Maptuit NaviGo addresses all of these, giving drivers and fleet managers a huge amount of control.”
As the nation’s road network becomes increasingly complex and difficult to navigate, Maptuit will continue to improve its routing capabilities with ongoing feedback from our growing community of drivers, and provide much needed graphical and audible information to the driver along the route.
