VDOT Launches Statewide 511 Website for Traffic and Travel Information

(SmartRoute), a Westwood (NYSE:WON) company, today announced the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has licensed the companies' RealTrafficTM service to power their 511 website. The Virginia Department of Transportation's 511 website will support motorists in making better travel decisions with real-time traffic incidents, weather conditions, construction information and much more.

Real-time traffic information for 511 Virginia is derived from two main sources - VDOT and the Virginia State Police. The website is hosted by Maptuit Corporation, the leading provider of trucking, tracking and traffic services in conjunction with Smart Route Systems, Inc.

With the site's Travel Services feature, visitors to Virginia can get information about local amenities such as hotels, restaurants and gas stations. Additional alerts can made available that include weather conditions, and other important broadcast messages to the community such as Amber Alerts.
