Sophisticated Geofencing Capability Available in Maptuit's FleetNav™ and TrackServ™ Products
Burlington, Mass. (November 16, 2004)
Maptuit Corporation, the leading provider of trucking, tracking and traffic services, today announced the availability of a sophisticated geofencing technology available in Maptuit's FleetNav and TrackServ products. For HazMat carriers needing to ensure the security of their assets at all times, Maptuit's geofencing feature sends an alert if their GPS equipped asset deviates from its expected course to help minimize risk of theft or security.
"Maptuit has developed our geofencing technology to provide our customers with a powerful tool to use in helping keep their valuable assets safe and secure," stated Rick Turek, CTO of Maptuit. "For instance, with Maptuit's geofencing capability, a hazmat carrier can set a geofence of 10 miles around a nuclear power plant, and receive alerts if any of their trailers enter this pre-defined location. By providing this extra level of security, Maptuit's customers have the ability to use our technology to react and recover from a situation that might compromise their asset's security and even Homeland Security."
Maptuit's geofencing technology addresses the needs of a variety of companies that want to keep track of their assets and make sure that they are secure - be it trailers, tractors, boxcars, boats, or containers. Customers can easily create a geofence, which is a defined boundary made up of geocoded points, through Maptuit's proprietary ActiveLayer technology. With Maptuit's geofencing technology customers are able to receive arrival and departure alerts and detailed report of their assets course. Customers can receive notifications or alerts through a variety of communication mechanisms, such as email, pager or PDA to help minimize theft and increase the security of their assets.
