Personalized Web-based Application Alerts Commuters to Up-to-the-Minute Traffic Events

Together, Maptuit and SmartRoute Systems deliver RealTraffic as a web-based service that offers personalized traffic information and alerts to ease the driving experience for commuters, travelers, and professional drivers. RealTraffic already boasts a strong customer base that includes State DOTs and media portals.

RealTraffic is a web service that allows DOTs and media portals to provide accurate real-time traffic and construction information content on their site. With street-level directions integrated with traffic incident information, RealTraffic allows drivers to see conditions that will affect their daily commute or travels. RealTraffic will proactively search for exceptional traffic on each commuter's route, and will send personalized alerts to their cell phone or email if there are any problems. Additional alerts made available through RealTraffic include weather conditions, and other important broadcast messages to the community such as Amber Alerts.
Maptuit and Westwood One have developed the RealTraffic service by leveraging the core strengths of both companies. Together, RealTraffic is becoming a “must have” traffic service to ease the commuting experience and aid in trip planning for the professional driver, and is projected to exceed a million subscribers to the service by 2005.
RealTraffic is currently being used by the New Jersey Department of Transportation for its statewide traveler information website. RealTraffic is also under development for South Florida's SunGuide traveler information service.
