Lincoln, NE (March 31, 2003)
Crete Carrier Corp. announces the expanded deployment of Maptuit FleetNav to their full fleet of over 5,000 trucks. Maptuit FleetNav is the only truck-to-door, on-demand navigation service on the market.
After surveying the market for potential navigation solutions, Crete conducted an evaluation of the Maptuit FleetNav service with a group of test trucks. Based on the very favorable results from these tests, Crete decided to expand the test to the entire fleet. "Crete is always looking for cost-effective solutions that will improve our operations and enhance communications with our drivers. Our test has indicated FleetNav is a tool that could help us achieve these objectives," said Lee Hoffman, Vice President, Operations, Crete Carrier Corp.
Using their OmniTRACS® satellite-based mobile communications system by QUALCOMM Incorporated, Crete drivers can request directions to their load origin, destination, stop or service location directly from their cab. Maptuit's model of the North American road network is the most comprehensive on the market and is enhanced with data to support the specific needs of the transportation industry.
Maptuit provides web-based, easy-to-use reporting and management tools to create and maintain precise address information for all customers and delivery locations. These tools enable back-office staff to manage customer locations, service parameters, and monitor fleet performance from any computer with Internet access. Other features include restricting roads from routing consideration, running test routes and generating reports. In addition to the base service, the FleetNav Alert module issues real-time alerts when trucks leave their assigned routes, enabling fleets to better control delivery performance and costs.
"Accurate directions, which were previously a challenge at a street-level, will reduce the frustration of our drivers and potentially save time and money through reduction of out-of- route miles," said Lee Hoffman, "Maptuit's tight integration with our Innovative Computing Corporation software and QUALCOMM's OmniTRACS mobile communications system has enhanced the flow of information. Maptuit's partnership with QUALCOMM has enhanced the quality and distribution of the solutions FleetNav provides."
"We are extremely pleased to add Crete to our growing list of leading North American fleets," said Jeff Papows Chairman, President & CEO of Maptuit. "Exceptional companies like Crete are signing up with Maptuit because of savings through increased efficiency and a significant reduction in administrative costs and out of route miles."
